I bought this quite secondhand Twinstar in kit form from Ian Harvey: I think he got it secondhand too and maybe the prior owner wasn’t the first either. It was more-or-less complete and what wasn’t there was easy to find in my bits box.
The airframe is the standard Multiplex ELAPOR assembled mostly with UHU POR and the odd blob of hot glue here and there. I re-sited the elevator and rudder servos to the rear sides of the fuselage and used 9g plastic gear servos from my stock; the aileron servos are from the kit. As usual for my models it has a Matek F411-WING flight controller running iNav 2.6 firmware, Rx is FrSky R-XSR connected by SBUS and implementing SmartPort telemetry. There’s a TBS M8 GPS module for the RTH function and although I don’t know if it needs flaps I have mixed a slider on the TX into the ailerons using iNav on the FC to get flaperons.
The motors are as supplied in the kit, brushless 1300KV but otherwise unlabelled, 4-Max PP-TESC25AU 25A ESCs and configured to contra-rotate with 7×5 APC thin props. 30% differential thrust on yaw is mixed in by iNav.
All up it weighs 1182g (2.6lb) including 3S/2200mAH battery and using the wattmeter I measured 310W at full throttle with the 7×5 props, which I’ll settle for just now, although I have some 8×6 props available to try after the maiden flight.
The failsafe is configured, the CG is set at 85mm behind LE with the battery fully forward in the bay. Just needs a range check and a flying day now.
